Learn to MIG Weld & Build Your Own Firepit – 1-Day Experience

Ever wanted to learn how to weld but didn’t know where to start? Our hands-on, one-day MIG welding course is perfect for complete beginners or hobbyists looking to refresh their skills — and you’ll take home a firepit you welded yourself!

What to Expect

Join us for a full day in our fully equipped workshop where you’ll learn the fundamentals of MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding and apply your new skills to build a practical, stylish firepit.

The morning session covers:

  • Introduction to MIG welding

  • Basic welding theory and machine setup

  • Understanding MIG welding principles

  • Hands-on practice welding various joints using 4mm steel

In the afternoon, you’ll:

  • Assemble and weld your own laser-cut firepit, using the skills developed in the morning

  • Work under the guidance of our experienced, qualified tutor to ensure a successful and safe build

Health & Safety

Please wear suitable work clothes (long sleeves required).
Protective footwear is essential – available to hire for £20.00 + VAT.
Overalls can also be hired for £25.00 + VAT.

Course Content

A short, but necessary Health and Safety talk. This will cover hazards and dangers involved in the welding process and how to overcome these safely.
We will discuss how both the MIG welding process works. How to identify and set up the equipment correctly needed for each process. Correct set up/shut down procedures
How to correctly and efficiently prepare the material prior to welding
You will be shown how to correctly lay a bead before progressing onto a varitey of different welded joints such as Lap / Butt / Tee Joints
An industry experienced and qualified tutor will be on hand at all times for advice and guidance.
What makes a good and a bad weld and why, with this we will be identifying weld faults and how to correct them by changing technique/machine setup or prep work
The correct setup of the welding machine in relation to the type of material / material thickness and welding position
Spend the afternoon Welding your own Firepit to take home with you!!!
Heatproof paint is available for you to purchase for your firepit

What to Wear:

  • Please wear suitable work clothing for the environment.
  • Long-sleeved garments and protective footwear are essential.
  • If you do not have suitable clothing, welders' overalls and steel-toe boots can be provided on the day at a competitive price.
  • Welding headshields are available for purchase, starting from £25.

  • A leather apron and welding gauntlets will be supplied.
