Due to the changes in HSE enforcement expectations in regards to the control of exposure of welding fumes, including that from mild steel welding, the need to deal with welding fumes at source has become a mandatory requirement for welders and fabricators.
According to HSEs welding fume facts, the point at which the weld occurs has the highest concentration of harmful substances, producing what is known as the ‘plume of fume’ that rises immediately from the welding arc. To prevent the ‘plume of fume’ from being inhaled, Allied Welding now supply state-of-the-art MIG welding torches that come attached with on-torch welding fume extraction offering the complete solution to the current HSE requirements by extracting the weld fumes directly from the weld point.
A crucial consideration when placing the extraction system directly on the MIG welding torch is making sure that the draw back from the extraction system does not affect the shielding gas as any interference of the shielding gas can cause porosity in the weld. To avoid this, our MIG torches are fitted with an adjustable suction control valve on the handle giving you the freedom to control the extraction flow rate while welding. This is also useful when welding into a corner where the area around the weld is restricted. It is very important that the right balance is found between removing all the fumes while simultaneously avoiding porosity, and this unique feature is the solution to this potential problem.
Torches are available in 3m, 4m, and 5m and for MB15, MB25, and MB36.
